Question Tamiya Primera Kits...

In my quest for a bottle of Krystal Klear i visited my local model shop yesterday still didn't get hold of any...but i did get hold of some stuff by Humbrol (ClearFix) which according to the bottle does exactly the same and is designed for 'affixing clear plastic parts and making small windows' is it any good? any one know?
Had a quick look at the kits and he has got not one but two 'Tamiya Nissan Primera Castrol JTCC' kits on the shelf £16 a piece...
The thing is do i really want to make a model of such a common car
when for the money i could buy a kit of something decent!!

P/Man before you start on at me for dissing Primera's...

Only Joking!!!

Sorry for going on and boring you all but I had to put this up to get
NUMBER 50 on the posts!! wa-heey halfway to my first star!!

Jay if you read this can i have a star-panel like P/Man's but reading
'FBS'?

Humbrol clearfix .. well, I've tried i and must say that it's massively inferior to the Modellers clear glue that I use (ordered from 1999.co.jp). And I have never used Kristal Klear and don't feel any need to. The Modellers glue is better then ClearFix because:

- it can be thinned with alcohol and it will not turn whitish (as opposed to clearFix)
- it comes in a nice bottle and is extremely easy to apply
- it has no effect on the paint (ClearFix blurred humbrol clear red and orange when they came into contact)
- most importantly, it has NO ILL EFFECT ON THE DECALS whatsoever! (ClearFix wrinkled the decals big time)

So these are my thoughts
Alex

I use clear fix as it all that is easily available in the UK as no doubt you are aware. It seems to do the job but it is a real pain in the arse to use, its tricky to apply and because of the adhesive properties you will have to physically hold parts together for a while. Ive not encountered all the problems Alex has pointed out above but im sure he is right and confirmed what i thought all along, in that there are more superior products out there - this is Humbrol after all!

Seeing as those kits are out of production (or at least have long spans of time between production runs) I think you should pick both of them up! Maybe sell one on here

The badge of honor the Warren wears was handed down to him from a much higher authority than I.

Buy BOTH of them?? w.t.f sorry but i'm not a masochist you know!!
PAY to own a Primera...I'd rather nail my nuts to a table? (hmmm maybe i am a masochist after all!!!)

It would be all well and good selling one here but god how much would postage cost to go halfway round the world!!

Jay you disappoint me I keep reading that 'your the man' but it seems not!
so who is 'The Man' who is the 'God' of A.F is it Igor?
Oh well my quest for a 'FBS' star panel continues

Please forgive my rantings but i've just come out of the shed after doing a spot of spraying and as James Brown used to say...
I FEEL GOOD!!!!!!!!

The Primera kit I saw is the Castrol sponsored one (TAM24142)
£16=24US$ sorry not sure what NZ$ exchange rate is against the GB£
It would cost £2.10(3.15us$) per 200grams to post a kit to NZ, not only that the post office here only insure mail going to overseas address's at a cost on top of normal postage rates of £3.15(4.70US$)
So if the kit weighed 400grams it would cost:
Kit =£16.00=24.00US$
Postage =£ 4.20= 6.30US$
Insurance=£ 3.15 = 4.70US$
Which as you can see makes a total of 35.00US$
so getting it from Wong at media mix hobby (who is in Singapore I believe) would no doubt be much cheaper for you. Also if you mention A.F Forums to Wong he will cut you a better deal (no doubt if i'm wrong about this someone will let me know!)

P.S. I'm not anally retentive or an anorak when it comes to the English postal system I just happen to have a booklet about postage prices by the comp as I deal a lot on auctions and unlike other people I don't like ripping people off with vastly inflated P&P charges.
Thank you!!!!

P.P.S. B.T.W Why on earth do you want a Primera?:o
