Red face 94 taurus wagon - antenna issue...

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to remove a part of a broken antenna that was broken off with only 1/4 inch sticking up and bent down on the threads? I have tried every grabby type tool I have to get a hold of it and unscrew it. I am asking for a few creative ideas on how to get this stub of an antenna out so I can listen to the radio again? Thanks in advance (sorry for the vocabulary, I tried to describe as best as I can).

Any chance you could post or e-mail a photo of it? I'm not quite able to picture what is remaining. My recall of the antenna is that it has two flat spots around the circumference near the threaded base that should allow you to get an open end wrench on it. You don't have a power antenna, right? Since you mention threads, I assume it's a plain antenna.

I can private message you with my e-mail address if you're able to send a photo.

Re: 94 taurus wagon - antenna issue...

sure i can get a pic of it.... the way it's setup is there's a chome ring - that is threaded down into the base.... then in the middle of the ring is metal hole that is coated with plastic - then inside of the metal it's threaded..... the piece that's stuck is threaded into the tiny metal threaded part. I can take the ring off but it doesnt get me any more room to grab onto the part that's left. The piece that is stuck was bent over the side and crunched down on the threads.. and it's really pointy and sharp. it is definitely not a powered antenna.

Have you tried a pair of vise grip pliers? Those may grab it and allow you to thread it out.

Just re-read your thread and you stated you have already tried all grabby things. How about a small drill and tighten it down on the broken part and reverse the drill and let it run backwards very slowly.
