Talking 95 Trans Am

Hey i was wondering if you guys could tell me how reliable a 1995 T/A usually is. Im thinking about buying this one with 48,000 miles new clutch, new tires, and with flowmasters. it seems to be a really good deal too 8900$. I hear good and bad things about these cars; the import lovers thrash them all day the domestic freaks stick by it but can anyone give me real feedback based on personal experience. I've always wanted one of these cars but i really cant afford a car that is going to constantly need work, expensive work. so can anyone give me some help.

Go to the bookstore and get either the Consumer Reports Book, or the Auto Issue, but have pretty good sections on used cars...If I recall(the book isnt in front of me) the 95 'Bird had "Average" reliability. But they do tell you where it was weak and where it was strong...

I have a 1996 and she's been 139,000 miles worth of reliable. That's great mileage, just make sure you have it tuned at the dealer, keep up with the oil changes, and you'll have little to no problems. One key point is to make sure that you don't EVER run it out of gas in it. The fuel pump is in the gas tank and if you run out of gas - the pump will burn out, and it's a very expensive repair, about $1,000.00. This problem was prevolent in 94-96. In 1997 they made a change to it giving it an automatic shutoff if you run out of gas. Good luck!

Thumbs up

If it's in good shape buy it. I've had mine since
Dec. '94. about 70,000 miles on it. Never had any
problems at all. It's the best car I've ever owned
I still have the original battery in the car.
My Wife Got hers first. '94 firebird 3.4 v6 nice
car, but not real fast. After I Got mine, with the
v8 6spd. She Traded hers in to get almost the
same car with the v8.The car gets real good gas
mileage. 20/27 mpg..these cars are not bad in the snow either if you have the right tires...
BLIZZAK..
