Question California+Radar Detectors=Legal?
To the best of my knowledge, they are totally illegal here in Cali. If you are stopped, the officer can confiscate it. My friends don't believe me.

Question radar detectors??
Are they legal in California?Here in British Columbia it is legal to own one but illegal to use it!!!??!!

I thought it was only illegal for commercial vehicle to use them.

But its only illegal if you get caught with one. So if you get stopped, just like throw it in your glove compartment or some other place a cop wouldnt see it.

In BC they are legal and you can use them however you want.

The only thing that is illegal is a jamming or scrambling device...like the laser jammer I have on my car.

Any jamming device is illegal no matter where you are.

The FCC does not regulate that type of frequency. So no, a radar detector is not illigal. Obstructing justice, or preventing a officer from doing is job is illigal. Therefore a radar detector is illegal.

I made a long ass post on this in the streetracing forum a while ago.

Radar Detectors/Donut shop finders
Since buying a radar detector I have found the best way to find a donut shop in any city in North America.Because the police leave their detectors on all the time it goes off within 1/2 a mile of every donut shop.So I have decided to market them as "Donut shop finders"to help such people as eg Diabetics,who need an urgent shot of sugar!!!!

RADAR Detectors are NOT Illegal In California!
