Put in plain English...your kids will buy any old crap that is pushed at them......if you don't teach them to make considered and analytical decisions.Advertising is getting less and less subtle,so buy cheese,it tastes good.

"And the nominees for Best Soft Drink Product Placement are... Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation, They Call Me Mr. Pibb, and Snow White and the Seven-Ups." -From Futurama, "That's Lobstertainment" (February 25, 2001) The population of the western world is well used to advertisers openly and blatantly lying to them. Anyone with even a whisker of brain power knows there is no way you can never get rid of some stains. It clear just how ridiculous 4 out of 5 dentists agreeing is… when no one even knows 2... And surprise, surprise… No one you’ll ever meet in your life would be shocked to learn that Energizer batteries do in fact eventually die… But… It’s still good, it’s all-good… Just as long as we have our saviour and choice of the Next Generation…. ![]() “I liked the look of the "Pepsi"-Truck so much that I did built it again, but this time with an open-able hood. This was the first truck to have this feature, but still no working piston engine though.” -From www.el-caracho.de Well, that was my 2 cents worth...

I don’t think marketing is going to be a religion. Even using the part of the definition that accounts as "A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion." I see it being practiced by the advertisers and the rest of us subjugated to us. Kind of like the Jehovah Witnesses.

I take it as true. In the past people's lives were dictated by religion. They followed the rules of the religion and did what their priest(or whatever...) told them. It gave them a model to follow in their daily lives and they did so.
Now, since religion is not considered "cool"(thank god...) They look to something new to give them direction because lets face it, people are stupid, ignorant lazy sacks of cow paddie and they don't want to, nor are they really able to think for themselves anymore. They see things on tv, in movies and other things and use them as guides for their lives. I mean hell, you can use the majority of this websites patrons for this argument. How many people are on here that bought a civic/eclipse/integra/whatever after seeing Fast and the Furious and then proceeded to call themselves "enthusiasts" "tuners" or whatever, when all they do is what everyone else does, put on altezzas, clear corners, the exact same shocks/springs as everyone else, same body kit, same stereo, etc. HollyWood told them that what street racers do is Buy hondas, put crappy, tacky looking lights/decals on them, big bodykits and then hangout at 2:00am in groups of the hundreds acting like "gangstas"(thats a whole other argument in support of this in it's self.) So then they went out and bought civics and do the same thing. People are lazy, stupid, ignorant, insecure, scared little sacks o' crap. They need(or want, kinda hard to say) someone/something to tell them what to do and how to live their lives. Someone says something is the new "Big thing" then they gotta be part of it. Since religion is on the way out mass marketing has taken it's place as the decider of whats "in" and what people should be doing. I rest my case because for some reason it's 7:00am on a tuesday morning and I'm awake. What the hell am i doing wasting my summer vacation being awake and frickin 7:00am!!!!!! grrrr, stupid girlfriend wanting my to stupid come over stupid early in the stupid morning. Oh well, dryer dinged, time to finishing dressing.

Lemmings?
Are people like lemmings?
Fast and the Furious. I refuse to watch that movie because they recked a classic, how could they? Religion? I used to go to church on Sundays when my son was in private school. I found it relaxing and inspirational at first, then when I really got to know some of the people there, I realized they were hypochrites. Put on your Sunday best then on Monday be anything but your best so you can ask for forgiveness next Sunday. If church works for you great, but don't be a hypochrite!
