Is this the next generation GTO to come from Oz?

Could this be the basis of the next GTO? Apparantly some at GM would like to include this little Aussie creation stateside.

GM head B Lutz has been quoted as confirming that 2006 GTO will be both Zeta based, and AU manufactured

I noticed a couple of innacuracies in that Canadian report

To correct:

There never was a Fairlane HO, only Falcon GT-HO

The word in Oz is that Torana will in all likelyhood see production within a couple of years or so - "sooner rather than later" according to a Holden Exec, and be built not just in Australia but also abroad. Maybe the US, maybe Europe (struggling Opel OR SAAB?)

Torana is NOT built or based on Holden's own Zeta platform. Nor is it Kappa-based (it does use Kappa suspension uprights) but has a "unique lower structure and architecture" (read: platform) all of it own

ignoring the hideous colour scheme, the car looks almost production-ready. Amazingly this fully functional & driveable Torana showcar concept - including its unique platform design & bodyshell (in metal) and the hand-built engine etc - was designed, engineered & built for the miniscule amount of AU$3 million (US$2.3 million) which includes all parts & labour. Btw it is also AWD-suitable
