Unhappy Someone Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

I have a 2000 GA 4cyl. Automatic. When the car is in high gear (O/D) it feels as if the ranny is slipping then grabbing-slipping then grabbing--in/out,in/out--on and on. So we figured just replacing the whole tranny should fix this -----right? WRONG --still does the exact same thing with a completely different tranny?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need to fix this quick --its the only ride I've got!!! Thanks!!

Re: Someone Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

Did they replace the torque convertor at the same time they replaced the transmission? If not you may have to remove the transmission and replace it now. This seems like a problem with the torque convertor. If they did replace it you may have a problem with the PCM. This controls the shift points in the transmission and may not be sending the proper signals to the transmission to tell it to change. Have someone scan the transmission with a trans capable scanner to see if it is a trans issue. If not you may have to go to the dealer to have a diagnosis done on the computer to see what is happening but I think the computer scan should do the trick.

Re: Someone Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

If you're reading about this, be aware that a bad spark plug wire on the grand am can give exactly the appearance of a slipping transmission while driving - particularly if arcing to a good ground, like into the engine block. check for bad wires and corrosion first, and possibly save a bundle of money.
