Abs/brake No Speedo

My Mother-in-law Has 1999 Alero Gx With 2.4l Engine. Abs/brake Light Has Been On For Sometime But Vehicle Has No Real Driveability Issues. Just Recently Speedo Failed As Well And Car
Does Not Shift From First Gear. My Ex Brother In Law (mechanic)
Scanned Computer And Came Up With Brake Control Module Failure.
To Confirm This Took Car To Local Gm Dealership And They Came Up With Same Problem. New Part Is $1179 Canadian. Promptly Removed Car From Dealership. Bought Second Hand Module At Local Scrap Yard. Spent 3 Hours Changing It. Started Car And Lo And Behold Exact Same Problem. Maybe (just Maybe) This Module Is Defective,
Gm Missed Something, Or This Car Is Total Junk. Anyone With Similar Problems Please Reply!

Re: Abs/brake No Speedo

Possibly the vehicle speed sensor located on the right transaxle drive housing. The signal from it feeds the speedometer and the PCM module uses it so the transmission can shift. Check the electrical connector to it first.
