I need a ZC DOHC Head

Does anyone want to sell me a ZC DOHC head assembly. I an looking for everything on the top half. I don't need the block or the tranny.
What I'm looking for is the distributor, intake manifold, fuel rail..etc
I basically want to swap out the head on my '89 crx.

Hey, I have everything but the Dizzy. I have the head, intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors, cams, cam gears, cam crowns, and even a timing belt that I could give you. On the ZC, when you take the head off, you have to remove the cams, so the crowns are just sitting on the cams loosely, because they'll have to be removed to put the head back on the block. However, all of the bolts are there, and everything is assembled.

I actually have a whole motor, if you are interested in it, it is just apart. I had a bearing spin, so it needs bearings and the crank needs resurfaced. This would only cost about $60 plus a set of bearings, which is probably $80. The pistons and rods are OK, and I even have a spare piston/rod assembly that I could give you. This motor ran fine in my car for about 3 months before I spun the bearing and I just replaced the motor, planning on building the block and bottom end, but haven't gotten around to it, so I am just trying to get rid of it. I'll sell the whole thing for $250, or just the head for $150. Let me know what you think. I may be able to get you a distributor as well. I'll find out and post that too.

Thanks for the reply, sorry it took a while to get back to you. I'll need everything you listed except for the block and tranny. If you could track down a distributor that be cool. I think the SI dizzy might work too. It's hard to find them around here. Also find out the cost of shipping if you have the time, or I might even pick it up (depending what state you are in, I'm in Colorado).
So just to make sure, is the head assembly in good working condition? And is the valve cover black or brown? Thanks.................

Hey, the head is in perfect shape. the only problem that this motor ever had was in the bottom end. The valves look good, the cams and cam gears are in good shape, and it is all super clean inside. No signs of detonation or anything. Do you want pistons and rods? I have heard that the domed pistons from the ZC make a nice addition to a D series motor, due to the higher compression. Let me know, K? I am in Utah, and I can let you know about shipping costs. Do you want the intake manifold and throttle body too? They are in perfect shape as well. Let me know. You can shoot me an email directly, if you like. Later.

Hey, I forgot to mention that it is indeed the black valve cover, so you are getting the good motor. Let me know what you think.

..do you know anyone who's actually done this swap? everyone always talks about it....but never goes through with it b/c of nay-sayers....I know of a 'friend of a friend' that has an 88-89 teg head on a a6 block....so it 'can' be done....but I'm not sure its exactly bolt-on like the sohc heads.....

I would have to say that it would be better to change out the whole motor. With just the head, you lose the displacement of the 1.6 motor, (which isn't that much, I suppose) but more especially the overall design of the bottom end, with stronger rods and domed pistons, etc. With how easy it is to swap a zc, I don't know why it is so attractive to do the ZC head on a D series block, other than that it presents a challenge, and I have been known to do things myself that don't represent anything but the challenge of doing them. I guess people like us are drawn to it??

Anyway, I am all about something original so I say go for it and let us know how it really works out!!

ZC head cont....

I had sent you an e-mail regarding he ZC Head. I'm not sure if you had gotten that so I'm sending you this post. I had mentioned that I want everything you had listed excluding the tranny and the block. The block in my CRX is stamped a ZC and the only thing messed up is the installers mated the block with a 1.5 DX head and intake manifold w/ dual point injec.
All I basically want to do is swap out the head with the DOHC ZC head, including the intake manifold that will run port injection. I have the harness all reconfigured to run additional injectors. I will need the throttle body too and a dizzy either from an 88-89 intergra or maybe one from a CRX Si (if this is compatible). Give me a final price for the entire top end (everything you listed) including what it will cost to ship out to Littleton, Colorado 80123. Give a price on the pistons on rods too if you want to throw it in.........Thanks.
