Mini Cooper design

I'm am working on my Austin Mini Cooper S Mk I kit. I've gotten a good portion painted. The body is camel yellow over silver leaf. I'm stuck on what design I want to do for the roof. I am open to all suggestions on what to do for it. What would you do for the roof of a Mini in yellow?

Re: Mini Cooper design

Black and white checks... Spray the whole thing TS gloss pure white, mask off using Tamiya masking tape checks, and spray X18 semi gloss from airbrush. Clear with X22 and polish.

Just an idea..!!

Re: Mini Cooper design

I'm also for the Union Jack in the roof: but in the simple straight kind. I need to make me a mini, yes a 1/12 like Vric should be a great idea to turn a bit with the lathe.

Re: Mini Cooper design

I hate seeing the union jack splattered all over cars. In fact I find most national flags stuck to road cars a little off putting TBH. It's fine on race cars etc, as this is just to show the nationality of the racing driver but seeing flags stretched or adored over some, in fact nearly all road cars just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

It’s all subjective though, what one likes another one hates.

Re: Mini Cooper design

If I recall, the original Minis had black roofs with the yellow body. Since your color is more modern, maybe for a metallic black or something, mix new and old.

Re: Mini Cooper design

2 thick white lines.

Simple, but not stupid.

Maybe sign your handle in the middle.

Re: Mini Cooper design

Oh yea, my dad also suggested:

80's type stripe. Off set to one side with a thick line and a thin one on each side. Kindof like the Camaro stripe, but not in the middle.

Re: Mini Cooper design

I'd get a picture of the Mini's interior from overhead, like they do for brochures and stuff so you can see the interior layout (like this but from directly above). Make that picture into a decal, and lay it down over the roof (with a mm or two of border). A big, expansive roof with nothing on it like that is begging for something of that sort.
