Angry Tamiya kit 24253 - Motorized Honda Fit - AARRGGH!

Now I'm pissed. Is Tamiya going to release something other than toys in the future, perhaps? And just what the heck are these silver plated body models of Tamiya car kits, and like 4 different colored Honda Fit models?

I'm losing my faith in Tamiya...

Sorry, had to get this off my chest.

:zx11pisse  :monkeypis Tamiya

I agree. Tamiya is really dissappointing me. I haven't bought a new model in the longest time, which is generally very odd for me, because there hasn't been anything good to buy!!!!!

Seems like the regular old sports cars aren't selling good anymore. I would of course love to see Tamiya do a S14 or S15, or the RX-8.

Forget the RX8.... I'd be happy enough if they made the BMW E46 M3 or 330ci, and the new SL500 would be awesome too...

It makes me wonder what is going on there also. Why dont they start asking what the people want and try and mold things to what is a high demand.
Some of there latest kits are rubbish which must only be selling to a very small amount of modellers.
More JTCC/BTCC/GT cars....surely the demand for them would be a lot higher then a Motorised VW/Honda Fit

Well, I just got my first motorized Tamiya kit (other than a 1/32 Super Mini 4WD Series car... ), and I must say I'm really excited to have it, even though it is a cheap gimmick.

I would think the purpose of a Honda Fit would be to appeal to new modelers who want to have a model of their own car (after all the Honda Fit is one of the best selling cars in Japan, like the Toyota bB before it)

Yes, go buy all five colors of Honda Fit, and all plated kits to help Tamiya!
Seriously, I don't want them to close the plastic model division, and go for R/C and Mini-4WD manufacturer.
I've been buying two of each recent releases such as F2000, and F2001, DTM Opel and Mercedes, WRC Impreza and 350Z. I even bought the non-motorized Fit for the Type-R conversion. (should be fun)
Keep sending cash to Tamiya. Besides, those are just limited production for the summer to boost the last month sales before the end of fiscal year, so that they appear somewhat healthy to the stock holder and the main bank. After all, corporate has to be making money to stay in business. Otherwise, we won't see Toyota or BMW (or even Jordan) formula one this year. Chance of seeing the Bentley or Audi Le Mans is even less.

ME WANT LEMANS LM!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, the same thing has been hapenning to Tamiya's RC division, Tamiya has been trying to appel to the toy/beginner market. They have released a few RC kits towards the beginner, they are more toyish and more complete than past Tamiya cars.

I dont think that by releasing these motorize kits Tamiya means to stop the other kits, I am sure we will see many more F1, GT, and LM cars but Tamiya is trying to expand, not stop one market and move to another.

OTOH, I do wish the motorized kits were at least different versions that the originals. I'd love the Motorized Beetle to be the Turbo or Sport model with the color-matched wheels...

On the subject of metal-plated cars, today in my lecture the teacher showed a picture of a 1936 Ford Deluxe. He told us that there were six of them made using stainless steel as the body, and to this day there are no signs of rust at all

of course! it's stainless steel!

but that brings up a good point... what's the point of Tamiya releasing plastic motorized or plated kits anyway? I mean, they're like cheap toys... no matter what quality they are. There are dozens of plated diecast cars out there, and they look pretty... :monkeypis

I'm a big physics dude (explains why i'm in engineering... hahaha) anyway, if Tamiya really wanted to impress people, it would be to release R/C or motorized METAL bodied cars with working suspension and such. Then when u run the thing, it would exhibit real-life physics (body roll, !!!!drifting!!!!, aerodynamics) then perhaps we could all have a little fun with our miniature creations.

When I have time, I think I'm gonna convert a 1/18 Bburago into a R/C car...
