P0441 this is aggrevating
Hello all again. I thought I had fixed this problem but apparently I havent. I changed about 5 rubber gaskets on the vaccuum lines because they were cracked. when I did that the ses light would stay off longer each time. 3 then 4 days and it would pop back on. I ordered the purge solenoid and Ill be recieving it monday. I saw the picture on the last thread where the purge solenoid is located next to the ignition wires above the engine mount. On my 97 it looks like its on the other side above the engine mount below the throttle body. And after I change this where should i check for leaks? Along the vacuum lines going back to the engine? I appreciate all the help I get.
...Happy Easter. BTW. hahaha. |

Re: P0441 this is aggrevating
The purge solenoid on a L67 3800 is located in a different spot but operates the same. P0441 means that the solenoid is stuck open according to the service manual so hopefully replacement fixes your problem.
As to other vacuum lines for evaporative emissions I would check the line from the engine going back to the vent solenoid and charcoal cannister for serviceability. It runs parallel to the fuel pressure and return lines. Also, there is a line that runs from the vent solenoid to the fuel tank at the top of the fuel pump assembly. You can remove the 7 10mm nuts holding the access plate on and perform a visual inspection and check for tightness. The access cover is located right behind the rear passenger seat in the trunk. Just peel back the trunk carpeting and sound deadening material and you'll see it. Happy Easter to you too. Great day to work on the car.

hey bob troy and other enthusiast that have helped me a great deal. I finally got the purge soleniod changed on the car, I was shocked to find that it was as simple as taking if off with no tools and just replacing it 1,2,3. also i replaced another gasket and after reviewing it i thought this might be where the problem is but oh well throw the new one on and a new gasket. also my egr valve needed to have the rubber gaskets replaced. that was the valve that i was describing when i started this thread. I lost 400.00 in atlantic city , that sucked!!! i thought i could be spending this money on my interior, hahaha... Bob thats cool that your son is in west point, i was in the navy for 4 i got out when i was 24. well thanks for everything bob AND troy. tell him i said thanks also if you can bob. ill talk to you guys soon. Joey. |
