ball joints and tires

just thought I'd share in case anyone else is having similar problems...
I've had a slight vibration in the front end. Sometimes I could feel a shake in the steering wheel, nothing major. We figured it was the tires as they're 3 years old now, so we rotated them... yipes! I went to work and I could hear the tires bouncing, and my hands were shaking while holding the steering wheel because it was shaking so bad.
I brought it into my guy and he just called and said that all of the tires were a bit out of balance due to the plies shifting due to age. He also said, and here's my point, the lower ball joints in the front end are loose. He's changing them right now for $80-some each. I keep saying that if I have to stick $500 a year into it to keep it running I will, and I have been... this year this and last year the lower intake gasket and the upper intake manifold had to be replaced. My car is a '97 GT.

Oh, anyone hear of Koru tires?

wow, fast reply! Yeah, my guy buys tractors from South Korea and now he's getting tires. I asked him what brand they were and he said that is the brand. I could be off on the spelling. Of course he wants to sell a set to me but, er... I want to research these things first.

Good idea. The Koreans make good tires but I've never heard of the specific brand. Hankook is a popular Korean brand sold by Discount Tire and Tire Rack.

I'd check out the specs on them (Koru). Good luck!

What are you talking about Bob, all Koreans are nuts!!! Inside joke there, (kidding of course). I've heard that too about Hankook, never used them, but I hear they're good tires.

Yeah Rich tell me about it...lol.

Hankook loosely translated means Korean. Personally I'd take them over Made in China Kumho anyday. Btw - Americans are Megooks or Mekooks in Korean annunciation.

My brother-in-law has new Kumho tires on both of his Lexus IS300 and Honda Accord and he likes them a lot. He told me that Kumho is Korean and they are inexpensive from Sears Auto; Kumo drives better than his OEM Michellen... Visually Kumo are very nice tires.

Persoanally, BFGoodrich is my brand of choice and have been my replacement tires since my wife first owned her 96 Chevy Cavalier.

Technically it is a Korean company and headquartered there, however, they are made in China too and not exclusively in Korea. They started out as Samyang Tire Company. One of my uncles worked for them when he graduated from the University of Seoul as a Chemical Engineer.

Established in 1960, KUMHO TIRE CO., INC., of Seoul, South Korea, had 2004 sales of $1.6 billion. KUMHO manufactures and distributes a complete line of tires for passenger cars, light trucks and heavy duty trucks. KUMHO has manufacturing facilities in Korea and China and operates technical centers in Birmingham, England, and Akron, Ohio. For more information, visit the KUMHO TIRE USA Web site at www.Kumhotireusa.com.

BF Goodrich?? Man, I haven't used them since the old days on my '79 Z28.

I'll stick with Japanese Tires.
