WIP Another Modena Stradale (almost MSM)

about 3 years ago, i bought the MSM creations transkit for the 360 modena. I finally take the kit out and try to fit it onto the tamiya kit and i find that the resin has shrunk!! there is almost a millimeter gap for the trunk and the side skirts were too short and had curled a bit. I guess im glad i didnt assemble it three years ago to find that it shrunk today. I decided to use the shrunken pieces as a reference to build my own parts with putty.

here i have the tamiya parts with tamiya epoxy putty before i carved them

here are more of the shrunken parts. i will still use the rims since they seem to be ok

this is after a couple hours of carving, filing and sanding

I shaved the license plate spot to match the stradale's

here is one of the sideskirts after gray primer

here is the car in white primer

i also cut out some material from the exhaust openings to accomodate PE from Acu Stion

It came out better than i thought it would so far. hope you like it

Wow, looks like you did just fine without the transkit! Well done! The primer looks smooth, so I'm sure the color is gonna look like glass.

here is some progress on the dash.

The original part

the climate controls were cut out and the radio discarded

Epoxy putty used to fill the opening and hold the controls

radio from spare junk dashboard attacked to styrene stock

what it is supposed to represent

Re: WIP Another Modena Stradale (almost MSM)

Slowly getting things done with this model. here is the engine. i super glued some PE bolt heads where ever they were needed. the body will be painted italian red (tamiya). The seats i have from the original MSM Creation kit are inaccurate and i have broken down and ordered an updated transkit from them. I really didnt have anything remotely close enough to use as a base for scratchbuilding. I think im going to have to take my time working on the rest of the engine bay while i wait for the kit to come in the mail.

Re: WIP Another Modena Stradale (almost MSM)

some more progress. i was contemplating taking out the plastic in the rear of the car and replacing it with some sort of mesh like a couple of other talented modelers have. I wasnt sure how it would turn out if i tried and i knew it would suck if i messed things up. i said, "$crew it" and cut off the plastic. i got some brass wire mesh from the local craft store and used the plastic as a mold/template. Here are the results of a couple solid hours of tedium. hope you like it as much as i do. came out decent IMO.

Here are some more shots of the engine. I added a couple more details.

I'm not sure if im going to add the wiring to the engine since frankly, i really dont know how its supposed to go. i have a hand full of reference pics but, i'd be guessing where they lead to. I am quite ignorant when it comes to that sort of accuracy. Im still learning.

Re: WIP Another Modena Stradale (almost MSM)

Fantastic and simple job with the rear grill: convincing!
Be warn with the muffler: the CS have a shorter stuff, like the 430.
And about the wiring job.. a little surprise: the 360CS owner manual, so now you'll know the CS nut by nut

the link: I think you need register yourself in the site, have a look

http://www.smcars.net/forums/showthread.php?t=16128

al is done in pdf vector so you'll print at your desiredsize: I print a plan of the engine in giant A2 size just for fun
