that isn't bad at all. you probably could place at a db drag in your catagory...and go home with a trophy

sorry, but i have to do it. my last db drag i got a 139 with my 1 12" i beat a girl with a brand new (square) L7. she was pissed. i know she paid a lot to have someone tell her what to buy and install it. she wasn't pushing it right...or she would have won.

Thats pretty good!

Last year i went to a bass comp and placed 5th in my catagory. 138.5db. I was surprised. I only have 2 10" Pioneers, and a 200 watt Clarion Amp.

I am in the process of designing a custom box that will take up the entire back seat area of my civic. If my math is right, it will be 2 6cuft boxes, ported on the floor behind each seat. With a 6ft ported box with a pair of 15" L7s and my 1250Watt RMS amp with Subsonic filter, with 2 LA 1Farad caps, it should really kick out some low street shakin bass that will annialate an spl competition.

I layered my entire floor and sidewalls with dynamat extreme, and once I remove the headliner will put dm extreme on that too. After building the box, I will be putting some litecrete in the floor chambers to deaden any harmonics between the box and floor.

I will put pictures on when I get closer to finished (and when my roll is empty, no digital camera...)

So far I have finished my dash and trim panels, all gloss black with red accents. I plan to put indiglo gauges in with red faces once I find a SI gauge cluster...

I can't wait to show it off... If only I lived in an area that had other civics around..

sorry to say guys but that's pretty weak. In my 73 bug, I had 2 10" RF Punch XLC subs in a custom built ported box with a 400 watt RF amp. Off the dash, I hit 153.5 db, in the floorboard, I hit 152.3 Above the port, oh nevermind, you don't wanna know. Ok, I can't resist, above the port 159.8db!! Eat your heart out boyzz!! All in a measly vw bug. I sold the car and the stereo. I miss it! If you don't believe me, I have pics to prove it, oh yeah, trophies too!

that was above the port though. The metering that matters is usually the dash for IASCA and USAC competition. I've never really tried to get points on the circuit, I just do SPL at local competitions. But, in my hatch, I'm gonna try to stay light. So far, I have a Kenwood 4019 CD headunit, Diamond Audio M3 6.5" in the doors, Rockford Fosgate 6.5" woofers in the rear parcel areas. I'm gonna get a good amp to power the Diamond Audio's and Rockford's and get either a bass tube or a single 10" sub for bass, the loud stuff gets obnoxious after a while. I'm also trying to keep lightweight and subs don't do that too well.

that's what i'm saying. it is very easy to under or over drive a system. a person needs to tune their system like they would a car. more doesn't always = better. then again.....

i once read about a car with like 32 (possibly 38) 6" mids and it hit in/over the 160's. the owner did it just to make people go...

Hey Spy54, since we're on the topic of car audio, I saw in your sig that you've got Q-logic kick pods. I was wondering how bad those get in the way? Can you still use your dead-pedal?

Hey Ci5iC, I have a set of kick pods that I got off of ebay and never used. I haven't even opened the areas up for speakers. If you are interested in them, let me know. I will let them go for $50 US. They are black and seem to be made of ABS plastic.
Ami, I totally agree with you. It's how you tune the system that matters. Because my bug was shaped like an ampitheater on the inside (ever wonder why the symphony is in front of the curve) it theoretically amplified the sound and pitched it forward in the car. Placement plays a crucial part in sound reproduction. Also, I am a firm believer in Dynamat. All the noise from the hi-po motor in the bug couldn't pass that stuff.
