1/4 mile analysis
I went to the track last night for the first time and here are my results. Its and 88 dx w/stock everything (motor, trans, suspension, etc.). Zero mods done so far not even i/h/e (saving for swap), only a gutted interior w/1 seat. I am running some shitty 13" wheels on goodyear rubber@40 psi. No burnout, launched at about 3500-4500rpm each time, feathered and no wheelspin. I Deep staged it about 5 of the 8 times.
(sorry if its hard to read) Run, R/T, 60', 1/4, MPH 1, 1.192, 2.642, 17.663, 77.31 2, 0.946, 2.697, 17.889, 76.45 3, 0.544, 3.022, 18.003, 77.57 4, 0.798, 2.754, 17.856, 76.44 5, 0.601, 3.061, 17.999, 77.24 6, 0.432, 2.796, 18.058, 75.45 7, 0.848, 2.75, 17.969, 76.2 8, 0.387, 2.88, 17.932, 76.89 I am unsure as to how exactly times are figured. It seems when my r/t is best that my 60' is slowest, is there a reason for that? Should I be getting better 60' times with what I've got or am I doing good? Please give me suggestions.

Did u play with the tire pressure or just left it at 40?....Try to leave around 3000-3500....How far did you go through the rpm's? Did u go till the fuel cuts off? Try to leave on the second yellow and not wait for the green....by the time the car reacts the green light will light up....
Good luck

I left the tires at 40, I shifted near/at the redline (approx 6500). WHen I would deep stage I got red lighted 2x, meaning it was b4 .500. Is it a good thing to get the red light then or not and does that hurt my time? I mean I could launch on the third yellow but when I deep stage it I bearely hafta move................!!!!!!!!!

I ran those times with my stock 4dr dx. Those times are what you should be running. Your first two runs were good so try and repeat what you did during them.

your RT has no affect on any of the times. Your 60's are slow though. I have a STD four speed and i've got 2.4 60's with a 18.7 at72 mph.

I just had my car at the track and I have a 91 civic si with intake and a big hole in my muffler thanks to my coilovers and bad roads! LOL but I ran a 17.1 at first when i launched at 3000 rpm. then I tried to launch at 5500 rpm and i ran 16.5! takeit as you like but that was how it worked for me!! I could probably do better but it was soooo hot it was like atleast 100 degrees outside!

Why are you running 40psi? That seems very very high. You would probably want the fronts low so you get better grip, and perhaps the backs high so you don't have to drag those back wheels.

I run 35psi in my 91 LX sedan, but I have not been to the track, i need to break in my new transmission bearings before taking the car up to a high rpm (i keep it around 4)

Find out when your fuel cuts off and shift just a little before that....u can pick up a shift light with rpm pills....once you hit your desire point the light will flash and you'll know when to shift...also play with your tires...if you can't afford slicks...than try winter tires...Do you race with floor mats?...take them out to make sure your foot is to the ground...
Good luck Let us know how u do...

i race at the tracks all the time. i found the same thing happens to me, when i get a good rt, my 60 foots are slower. idk why. but try to get better rts, i always get an rt of .2 or better, but i race alot. just gotta practice and when to launch will come to you. 2nd yellow, anticipate 3rd yellow, 3rd yellow. just gotta work it and find the time to launch. but you already know this but i like to feel smart by saying this

AT dragstrips, they encourage they slower car to wait a little if you are way slower then the car in the other lane. You et is the time you cross the first light to the time you tigger the final light. Your et has no affect unless it is a real race. i highly advise shifting before fuel cutoff because that could damage the engine if done repetedly and you are already past the the engines peak power point so you are not getting any faster. Try working on quick shifts and a higher launch.

I ran a best 18.078 @ 74 with my stock DX sedan and stupid hard Michelin front tires at 25 psi. (w/ full interior )Keep at it dude...you'll get better...and each mod and swap makes it a whole new story as to how you and your car reacts to the tree. ![]() I think the fuel cut-off on a d15b2 is 6500. HP output is 92 at 6000 so shifting higher than 6100 or so is pointless.. IMO - the most power comes from keeping the engine in between the peak torque output and the peak HP output, shorter gear ratios (like a ZC tranny) will help this alot but you have to shift more often since you hit redline earlier.
