Are the Fujimi 1/16 Ferrari kits any good?

I've been searching AF for the last 45 minutes, but I still could'nt find out if these kits are good or bad, So can anyone help me?

Are these kits any good?

- Fujimi 1/16 Ferrari Testarossa (re-release)
- Fujimi 1/16 Ferrari 512BB (re-release)

I know they are detailed Enthusiast series kits, but I am wondering:

- Are the shapes correct?
- Is the bodyfit good?
- Engine detail?
- Are the wheel/tire size and quality good?
- What is Opening? doors? bonnet? trunk lid?
- Wich 1/16 kit would you buy?

All info is appriciated.

Re: Are the Fujimi 1/16 Ferrari kits any good?

I've got three of these kits- the Testarossa, the F40, and the 959, but haven't built any yet. All are good kits, but they are certainly not Tamiya Enzos! Fujimi Enthusiast kits take alot of work, and there will almost definately be fit issues and the like to be dealt with. I would consider any of these kits as an excellent start for a project- but unless you know that you really enjoy building (as opposed to assembling), you might consider skipping them.

Schnitzerman and Martin S have both done build threads of the 959.

The fit corrections that Martin S made should show you what you're up against.

Re: Are the Fujimi 1/16 Ferrari kits any good?

Ok, so they are basicly like the 1/24 Fujimi enthusiast kits then?

I've ony built 1/24 so far but are tempted to build something bigger, and I'm still mad on myslef for getting outbided on a 1/12 Doyusha BMW 3.5 CSL wich I wanted to "take all the way".

Then I noticed today that HLJ got a 40% off sale on the 1/16 Fujimi Ferraris, so I basicly wanted to know if these kits are good bases for å superdetailed project, wich I now think they are.

My only question now is: do they have opening doors?

Yes, they're certainly excellent bases for superdetail projects. If you look at them like that, you will likely be thrilled with these kits.

And yes, doors do open and close, as well as boot and bonnet.

I wouldn't compare 1/16 kits with 1/24 ones, while 1/24 kits have some minor fit problems, 1/16 ones are much more complexe. I have lost my nervs with one and promised myself to never buy another one.....but then again I am jumpy

I might be getting one of those 959's after my birthday (in May), so I'll be checking this thread out too.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but...I have the testa and f40......The Testa is complete and the instructions show pictures of bulbs for the head/tail/dash, but there are NONE in the box?
Am I supposed to supply these or did they somehow get missed at the factory during packaging?

If I remember correct the kit should come with the battery box, but the light bulbs are not included.
