Chef quits south park

From MSN today.....

Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'
Mar 13, 4:33 PM EST

The Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."

Last November, "South Park" targeted the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers, including actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta, in a top-rated episode called "Trapped in the Closet." In the episode, Stan, one of the show's four mischievous fourth graders, is hailed as a reluctant savior by Scientology leaders, while a cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out.

Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

Re: Chef quits south park

its a stupid religion and its beliefs are just crazy. Its about making money. It gives a little bit to everyone who wants to believe in a religion. There is a southpark episode called "Trapped in the closest" download it and watch it sometime. Or it should be on comedy central alot now because of this. It explains what it really is.

Now c'mon children...

By definition: a controversial belief system developed by L. Ron Hubbard, based on a person being an immortal spiritual being whose survival depends on him/herself and his/her attainment of brotherhood with others and the universe

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientology

Some central beliefs of Scientology:

- A person is an immortal spiritual being (termed a thetan) who possesses a mind and a body.
- The thetan has lived through many past lives and will continue to live beyond the death of the body.
- A person is basically good, but becomes "aberrated" by moments of pain and unconsciousness in his life.
- What is true for you is what you have observed yourself. No beliefs should be forced as "true" on anyone. Thus, the tenets of Scientology are expected to be tested and seen to either be true, or not, by Scientology practitioners.

Also, Isaac Hayes, for playing a ladies' man you don't have much of a ball sack. What a little pussy.

That’s sad. I’ll miss him. I bet his Scientology buddies put him up to this. "Trapped in the closest" was an awesome episode too!

Re: Chef quits south park

Looks to me like "Scientology" is simply the belief in scientific reincarnation, the fact that energy never dies but keeps on going from organism to organism.
