headlights not working
Hello. My friend has a 2001 alero and both headlights stopped working. Brights work, and nothing else seems to be effected. She said there are different fuses for each light and they seem to be fine. Is there a relay for the headlights somewhere that may be blown? Any input on this problem would be great!
Thanks! |

Re: headlights not working
The headlights use a circuit breaker not a fuse for protection. Since the high beams work the circuit breaker is OK. I do not see any other relay from the multifunction switch (stalk) to the low beams. It sounds like the multifunction switch has flaky contacts for the low beam side. Also, check to make sure neither low beam lamp is blown.

Re: headlights not working
Thanks a ton for your help. Do you supposed one blown light could cause both to go out? I hope it's just that. I would hate for her to have to deal with a real mechanic somewhere for something silly like a headlight.

Re: headlights not working
Thanks for everyone's help. It turned out to be two burned out headlights. How that happens at the exact same time is beyond me... but I'm glad it was something simple.
