True Dual Exhuast

There is a 92 caprice 5.0 with True dual exhaust at the junkyard near my house. My question is since this custom set-up is ran from the heads there is no cat just pipe and mufflers, will i fail emissions? I plan to just unbolt them from the heads and install on mine so no cutting will be done...

If there's no cats on it, it most certainly will fail the emissions inspection - both emission and physical inspection. They will not certify it unless there are cats on it. Since the LT1 Caprice had factory true dual-cat duals, you can put a dual-cat system on it, but the cats must be present.

How much did they cost? I have $300 in my exhaust from the cat back and it's single!

Do yourself and your car a favor put cats on it with the duel exhuast.
Without them Anytime you drive on a federal highway it is illegal.
Saftey checks road stops and highway emmisions checks or accidents and you will be in big trouble. They can even mail you a ticket now days after you drive by one of them emmision check machines.
And without cats and 02 sensors your car emmision and computer system will not work right. Can result in shorter engine life and less gas millage.
Do not sat we did not tell you so but it is.
Your choice.
Good Luck MT

Re: True Dual Exhuast

Just installed them Last night after my emission test without the cats just to see if there are any differences and i noticed very little power gain, and the temp gauge tells me that my car is overheating... Trial and error next step is to get 2 custom cats in there just so i don't have to worry about emissions and see if it will stop overheating.
