Cool Finished: Custom Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Finally finished

Progress thread:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=438921

Final assembly wasn’t easy; though all sub-assemblies were. There was a problem w/the chassis being somewhat warped from the rear axle area back, and it took me awhile to figure how to get the chassis glued in place w/o resorting to using some giant clamp. This didn’t surface until the interior was assembled and glued in place, test-fits didn’t have the problem.

I really like the outcome, though I’d say I rushed a few areas that could have been a bit better. The interior color is okay but I could have toned it down more, though these pics show the blue being much brighter than it is on the model. The hood still shows a small area where I had to repair a recurrent blister. The screen mesh (brass) is nearly impossible to paint w/o still showing some brass; too much paint will flood the screen and fill it all in.

It was certainly fun to build. I’m happy w/the modified coachwork-the revised “C” pillar, the additional side vents, the Viper hood w/vents, the larger vents in the front fascia, replacing the stock grille w/mesh. The hood could fit a bit more flush, but that would have been a nightmare to actually accomplish. This car certainly does satisfy my vision of a Scaglietti that Ferrari should have built.

Not sure about that hood Bob, are you sure you're done? (Inside joke with ACME Members.)

Looks great Bob. Finally finished after how many years? and how much paint?

Bob! You did it! It looks fantastic! Glad you stuck it out and kept your vision alive. By far the best looking Scaglietti I've seen.

It has a really nice GT look to it. Wheels suit it. The interior blue really pops out in these pics. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

You've taken it from panzy to badass and it looks amazing! The wheels are a perfect fit for that car. All the mods are awesomely executed - major changes that still look subtle. Fantastic work from your shop, keep it up (we know you will!)
