Got this kit from Veyron. His two 612 Skags were the inspiration.
I never have warmed to the stock Skag; looks a bit undercooked and needing some more character. I've altered the roofline a bit to pay homage to the 456 and to also carry a bit of the design of the scallop into the roof. In the process, it helps to balance the C pillar over the center of the rear wheels...the cockpit on the stock version is pulled back too far, making it look ungainly and making the front end length seem excessive. I think that what I've done is working fairly well. I stole Veyron's Viper hood concept, w/the exception that I filled the vents. I widened the hood a bit on the sides and have recontoured it a bit. I tried a few sketches of the sides before coming up w/my favorite solution, a single fender vent behind the wheel similar to an RX-8, but faired into the scallop. I tried double vents a la 250 GTO, but they didn't look right. Triple vents were too much. The single vent simply looked the best. I still have to refine the opening and blend it into the scallop. As for the front, I took an idea I saw in a magazine and opened up the corner vents so they didn't look so small and tacked on. The grille and vents will be mesh, no eggcrate. Headlight buckets will be black instead of body color. So far I'm pretty happy w/the modifications. The Pegasus 23's I show look like they fit it pretty well w/o the car looking like a whip. The wheel openings are so big that 23's don't look goofy on it. It's still in the rough stages, lots of refinement to come. Hope you like it.

Re: In Progress: Custom Ferrari 612 Skag
in my opinion it looks so much better than the stock scaglietti(no offense to Ferrari lovers, but i think it has to be one of the ugliest Ferraris ever). great job so far!

That's very cool looking! Will you be painting it white? I think white would look awesome on this one.

Re: In Progress: Custom Ferrari 612 Skag
i quite like the basic 612 too.
i just think that it's a very colour sensitive shape and in the flesh 1:1 it looks quite sharp. |

I'm going for gold metallic over silver base coat on mine. But I'm about 2 months away from putting any paint on it yet

Thanks. BTW, I used to have a cat named Bondo, so I know my putty Quote:
. I'm trying to add a bit of testosterone to the tepid styling. That said, plain old white looks very striking on any Ferrari I've ever seen in it. Including a 550 Maranello I saw on Sunday.A stock Scaglietti might look good in pearl white. Especially if the stock Scaglietti is lowered a bit from it's AWD-looking ride height .
