Re: Glasspacks VS other aftermarket muflers

You have Flowmasters on now and you want to change them...Do they need replaced? I WOULD NOT USE GLASSPACKS!! They're are way too loud and the tone just sounds like crap!! All they do is cackle. Flowmasters are just as loud and the tone sounds so much better!! Tone is so much more important to the sound of your car than just being loud.

I like the sound of Flowsmasters because you can hear the sound of the air rushing thru the exhaust but at the same time you hear that mean growl. With glasspacks, all they do is cackle and they are obnoxously loud.

Do you have off-road H or X pipe? Are your Flows 2 chamber or 3 chamber?

STICK WITH THE FLOWS MAN, YOU MAY ALSO LOSE POWER BY GOING TO A GLASSPACK!

OH...OK, V6 (3.8), single exhaust (stock), 1 muffler. I thought you had a GT. All I can say is that the guys earlier were right about glasspacks sounding like crap, especially on a V6. The smaller the engine (less cylinders) the worse sounding the exhaust WITH GLASSPACKS. Yeah, there are turbo Grand Nationals and stuff like that that sound awesome but I've never heard one with glasspacks...Thank God.

Glasspacks were the "cool" thing in the 60's-80's. NOT NOW!! But, if you like them, it's your car, money, and headaches that you will get after along day at work, better get some Tylonol. Seriously, if you have a Flowmaster on now, it sounds 10 times better and gives you more power than a glasspack could ever give you. GOOD LUCK

they sounded good during the muscle car era when everyone was using them. my uncle has a surburban with a 350 with glasspacks and headers and it sounded pretty good, loud but still good. he had to switch to flowmasters though because he was waking up the neighbors everytime he left in the morning

I'm sure even with the Flows. he still wakes them up, they just don't complain because they remember what it sounded like with the g.p.

Well thanks for all the advice I think ill stick with what I got. For what everyone is saying glasspacks suck. So I'll be content with my flowmaster.
Thanks again

Re: Glasspacks VS other aftermarket muflers

If you want a different sound you could go to some exhaust websites like Flowmaster, Dynomax, Borla, Mac and they have sample audio for you to listen to. GOOD LUCK
