Oil leak...? maybe

I installed a thrasher CAI on my gtp today. Once i was done with the intake, i installed the coolant recovery bottle because i have a 97 and it has to be moved. Anyway, long story short, i take the car for a drive, everything seems fine. I come back to clean up my tools. When i pulled the car out of the garage to close it, i noticed a decent oil spot on the floor where the car had been sitting while i cleaned up. I parked on the street and then checked again, sure enough, oil. Idk what the hell is goin on cuz i don't think the CAI install really bothers any major iol lines or anything that i know of. It seems like the drip is coming from the engine area and running down to the oil pan. Anybody have any ideas??

Re: Oil leak...? maybe

Sounds coincidental with the CAI install but no relationship IMO.

Check for leaking front and rear valve cover gaskets. Also check the condition of the oil pan gasket. Also leaking rear main seal is not uncommon.

Use decent lighting and/or a flashlight and do a visual inspection from top down and bottom up. Good luck!

Re: Oil leak...? maybe

I crawled under and took a pic. I think i found where it's starting out (the picture) and it drips down to the oil pan.

Yeah that sure looks familiar. I see it is the starter. So it maybe either the oil pan gasket or a rear main seal. Not good news because both are a PITA to change out. It drips to the oil pan because it is the lowest point of the engine and the oil pan is angled at the bottom.

BTW - I forgot to mention that there is a plastic inspection cover next to the starter covering the bottom of the bellhousing. It is held on by a few 10mm bolts. It can be removed to inspect the rear of the engine.
