Your best off looking for a MIVEC conversion. It will be very hard for you to get the Power an Evo V generates.
The 4G63 conversion may give more power but it will cost more to do and might not even fit. Have a look around, but i suggest a MIVEC conversion - you will get some power increase and save some money for other items to configure with the engine. |

I've seen 4g63t swaps done on 4 door mirages, but I haven't seen someone even attempt one on a 2 dr. The swaps that I have seen have required extensive and costly modification. You might want to look into the MIVEC swap that LANCERZ suggested. I know nothing about that though, I've never even heard of it. Sounds cool though. Think you could send us some more information about the MIVEC thingy LANCERZ?

I'll try look for the information, I read up about it in some magazine where many factory floor lancers and mirage's in Australia had gone through these MIVEC conversions and apparently worked out well.

yeah, go the mivecc..... if you want a turbo, i suggest bolting one on... don't do an engine swap to a 4g63 92 or 93...
it's madness...... |

An Evo 4,5,6 engine will fit. seen it done twice, custom gear cogs are the only real major mod needed

I'm an NA enthusiast and I've been waiting for the MIVEC topic to be brought forward. I have a few questions to ask. Firstly, is it possible for me to purchase a new MIVEC 1.8 engine straight from Japan? If possible, please tell me where to get the neccesary informations. Secondly, can that engine be rebored to accomodate the 81mm pistons(increased capacity to 2000cc)?
Lastly, can a MIVEC engine rival a VTEC Type-R with the same capacity? ps. no forced induction installed. |

I've been doing a little research on the MIVEC engine. It's available in the Mitsubishi Mirage in the European and Asian markets... why it wasn't brought here is beyond me. I know there is a 1.6L and a 2.0L engine available now, and the 1.8 was released recently... anyhow. I got some info at the following website. You have to cut through some crap in reading it, they must not spell to well in the UK, but it has some good info.
www.fly.to/mivec If I find anything new, I'll pass it on. |

Found some more info. Took a little bit of internet time... and a lot of patience sorting through non-English sites, but:
www.rpw.com.au They are an Australian company that have two dealers in the US, one East Coast (MD) and one West Coast (AZ). They have parts for modifying existing engines (1.5L and 1.8L) as well as upgrades to MIVEC engines. Hope this helps the search. |

http://www.mirage-performance.com/ap...s.html....here they sell 4g92 1.6 liter ralli art tuned complete engine setups...kits cost 4000 dollars but you get everything you need and they are dependable.....i think they are going out of business soon too so maybe you can get the kit discounted....here is what you get...gearbox, clutch assembly, front and rear Evolution 3 brakes (4x100 bolt pattern ), axles, front struts, stock exhaust manifold, intake manifold, computer, wiring harness, radiator, engine mounts etc - basically everything you need to fit into 1997+ Model Mitsubishi Mirage....this is a mivec motor....it produces about 170 but you can get it up to 200.....and yes it does rival the type r......especially if you have it in a lighter weight mirage.....
