Bloody understeer!!!

well, my dad purchased a new WRX a week ago, and finally today he broke the 1000 mile barrier. Breaking 4000 RMP was unbelievible!! the tach just takes off to 7200 RPM.

The only thing im a bit worried about is the understeer the car exhibits while turning at a high rate. Anyone else experiance this/ know what parts are needed to get this car out of understeer central?

Ive heard of thick rear sway bar that will correct the problem. Does anyone know where this can be purchased?

Aye, a beefy rear swaybar should help. A bit of camber up front and/or some nice shocks should do the trick aswell.

Before paying money and carrying out modifications, practice 'slow in - fast out'

The WRX's are 60% FWD so have the handling characteristics of a FWD (understeer). By feeding the power through the corner and practice, you'll be able to hold it on the edge of understeer and go through/ exit the corner at the highest speed the car is capable of.

I also found by fitting lower profile tyres (in the case of 18's with 225's/ 35 / 18 ) the car went around corners better - perhaps it was the less tyre wall flex/ harder ride, dunno. But if you're going to set up the car for better handling an anti lift kit for the front is a good option - the power is coming from the front so dealing with that side would be my go.

My WRX has a nice big front strut brace on it and I have yet to find understeer. Have managed a bit of oversteer, so I think the strut brace may help too......
