YO! Just got an '02 max and it RUNS.
Question is: it has the new "drive-by-wire" system, that is, no throttle linkage directly connected to the pedal, just and electronic sensor that controls the throttle now. If you push slowly and smotthly (from a stop), the cars pulls hard, if you jam your foot into it (again from a stop) it has a SLIGHT hesitation, like a "double-pump" before it starts to move. It's not too bothersome, and it doesn't act like the motor is hesitating...the dealer said this is normal for the new drive-by wire "02's, JUST WONDERING if any other '02 owners have noticed it and can tell me the dealer isn't BS'ing me...THANKS!!!!!!!! |

I feel the same thing so don't worry about it. At frist I thought that the hesitation was something wrong so I guess that we both have nothing to worry about.

Thx for the reply burrito, I just wanted some extra confirmation. Too often the dealers just say' "Oh, it's supposed to do that..." and you wonder if you're taking it up the tailpipe. Happy driving!
