'02 Outback Hesitation on acceleration
The wife's Outback (2.5L) just started hesitating on acceleration from a dead stop, but only when you stomp on the gas. If you accelerate smoothly, there is no hesitation. I drove it around today and it did it once, and even in park, you could feel the hesitation when you were aggresive with the accelerator. So far, I think the A/C was on everytime it did it, but it may be doing it with the A/C off.
Also, it doesn't do it every single time. It's probably way past time for a new fuel filter, but does anyone have any other ideas? New plugs? Clogged injectors? I did just add some Lucas Oil Deep Clean Fuel system cleaner. Ed |

Re: '02 Outback Hesitation on acceleration
Consider a new air filter, fuel filter, and clean the Massive Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

SOLVED: '02 Outback Hesitation on acceleration
So, a new fuel filter, air filter and new plugs and wires cured the issues. The plug wires on #3 cylinder had been arcing and for some reason the back latch on the air filter box had come loose, so at times it was sucking air past the filter.
Running smooth and much quieter now, too
