So what do you guys think of kobe bryant scoring 81 points in a game? You can say he did something jordan didn't do...........

As for Kobe, congrats...when you take as many shots has he did you're bound to score that much.

All that does is verify the belief that the NBA doesn't play defense and leads me to believe were gonna get our asses kicked in the olympics again...

So nobody played defense in the day when Wilt scored 100? I'd have to agree that we are going to stomped in the olympics again though, simply because the NBA is all about individual showboating now, and actually playing as a team is rare these days.

I think when a player scores that many points in a game, even if it's more than 40 you have to question the defensive abilities of players nowadays, LeBron was held to 23 points several days ago, good defense wins games. Look at the pistons, no player on that team is averaging more than 20 points a game, yet they win, because they play good defense. And you're dead on about how the game is played today.

I agree that individualism will be the reason we don't win the gold for basketball at the next Olympics but another reason is because the best players from the US don't go a lot of the time. Shaq won't go and he's the best Center in the world...

Good point on all the above. I don't like Kobe coz he's a ball hog. It's always about him and no one else. If Jordan had that mentality he could of done it as well but he knew he had a solid team around him.
Furthermore that's why the Pistons, Suns, and Spurs are the best in the league. No ball hogs and solid defences. As we know from last year nash could get highscoring games if he had to but he is all about teamwork get everyone involved and they can't pinpoint one guy.

It seems like some of you guys are minimalizing what Kobe did simply because you don't like him...but what he accomplished, is seriously nothing short of spectacular. He scored the second most points in a game, EVER, and more importantly, he helped his team win a game they likely would not have won without him. I don't necessarily care for him a whole lot, but 81 points? Everyone should be standing in awe with their jaw down to the floor.

Kobe doesn't have a good team surrounding him, if he did he wouldn't be averaging 36 ppg.
