My first street race.

I was heading out to see my lady friend and I came across a kid, about my age (17), in a 240sx. He had his stereo up loud playing some high bass music. He got on in a little bit and so did I. We made it to the next light fairly uneventfully.

At the next light he launched it somewhat. Enough to chirp the tires. I matted it and pulled ahead by a bit. I only took it to about 60, so it may not seem like a real race to you all, but I had him the whole way. I backed off and gave him a bit of a wave, he seemed angry to be beaten by a rust bucket but I enjoyed it for my first street race.

notes: 77 chevy heavy 454ci inched out an early 90's 240sx, but only to 60.

Re: My first street race.

How many car lengths did you have him by? What kind of 454 do you have in your car? Original one? About how many hp?

Re: My first street race.

Anything built in the '70s by GM, Ford or Chrysler was heavy. Everything was mandatory 3500lbs+ or it didn't leave the factory.

Re: My first street race.

not carlengths, more like feet. and only one or two. it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or you win by a ...ok i won't go there. the 454 is rebuilt. it was done so about a year ago so it's pretty solid. not idea on the numbers. and yes the engine weighs at least a ton.

Hey hey hey now, not EVERYTHING was a tanker from those days. My SS has a stock curb wieght of 3310 pounds. Not bad at all for a product of the all steel car age.

Nice run man. Stay safe, have fun, don't run over any old ladies.

Re: My first street race.

Thanks for all of the positive reinforcement. Here I was thinking I was going to get talked down to or some shit. If anyone tries to take on the BBC again I will be sure to let everyone know.
