Iwata compressor and voltage question...?

Hi all,

I need a new, small and quiet compressor, and am considering buying an Iwata Smart Jet compressor for the job. I'm basically set on this one already, so the compressor type is not an issue.

It seems though, that I can probably get one cheaper from the States than buying locally in Australia. The only problem is that the States runs 100V - 120V, and Australia is on 240V.

Does anyone know if I can use some kind of converter or additional plug to make a U.S. market compressor like this work on an Australian power socket, and run at the correct voltage?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Have you considered buying a small couple-gallon airtank and filling it with a larger compressor kept in the garage or something?

I've thought about that and a lot of other options. But there's a 99% chance I'll be moving into an apartment block a few levels up very soon, so I'll be forced to have a small and quiet compressor for use out on the balcony.

I suppose I could do all my spraying down in the garage, but venting the fumes would be tough, and going up and down all the time would send me insane!

When someone what an Iwata compressor, it's because they know what they want

Yes, there is some "travel" converter that make 110V things to run on 240V power. You might want to take a look at hardware store to see if they have something similar. But be ready to pay quite a bit on this.

Hey Captain Mark, you just need to cruise down to the local electronics store and buy yourself a transformer . Here in Portugal it costs around €15, so it's not that expensive.
