Newbie has a question

I have an 87 Nissan Maxima Wagon as my Daily Driver/Grocery Getter and have been having problems with the Alarm/Anti-Theft Device.

The Factory Alarm will go off for no reason at all while the car is parked, whether it's locked or unlocked - the horn will start honking and the lights will start flashing.

It happens only once in a great while, but it is very annoying when it does.

Can I remove the Anti-Theft relays or does that disable the car from running?

Also, how would I go about fixing the problem?

My guess would be to replace the relays.

Thanks.

I really don't even need an alarm.

How would I go about bypassing it?

I would check some things first.
I was driving a friends car while my alarm/starter was being installed and the Pathfinder I was driving had the built-in alarm go off a couple of times for no reason (or so I thought). I found out it was a faulty door switch. As the car got hot inside, the internal pressure on the door caused the switch to act as if the door was open therefore the alarm would go off.

Check for things like that, door switch, trunk etc. You never know when a shpritz of WD40 could fix a problem.
