Nozzle shape?
I've been looking into some airbrushes since I need to replace my current one.
My question would be: what are the differences between the different types of nozzles? round and expanding, round and closing, crown and expanding. Are there more types? Is it just style? Or do these different nozzles give different results? Ty for any replies! Steve |

Re: Nozzle shape?
Yes, different shape and size nozzles give different volumes of paint flow and different patterns.

Re: Nozzle shape?
the open or expanded or crown types allow you to airbrusch closer to the piece with out air flow causing paint to run or puddle

Re: Nozzle shape?
I've found a lot of info on Iwata's site. Try a google search, as I've lost my links.

Re: Nozzle shape?
Some airbrushes come with different nozzles for different paint flow, Paasche H and Aztek for instance. Others like Iwata do it all with a single nozzle. So it all depends on the construction. Get an Iwata, I have four of the things and would not use anything else.

Re: Nozzle shape?
Nah screw Iwata.., get yourself an Evolution 2300 or the newer Silverline instead from http://www.harder-airbrush.de/. Nothing else compares to their quality and service. I´ve had mine for quite some time now and I love it, no other AB offers what the Evos do. Never replaced a bent needle, o-rings or nozzles. I´m not in the typing mood so I won´t describe every aspect of the brush and why it kicks Iwatas ass (and pretty much every other AB out there), below are just a few reasons why I love H&S Airbrushes:
-Great service from H&S Airbrush -Great prices on both brushes and replacement parts, unlike Iwatas... -German precision -Teflon seals (solvent resistent) -Few parts, easy to take apart and put it back together -Very easy to clean -Can be easily modified from 0.15mm nozzle to 0.6mm and everything in between -Can be converted to suction-feed -Tons of accessories (needle limiter, fine pressure regulator etc.) ...And it looks great too! /Fredrik

guess that I'm gonna have to rough it .So far I've decided to get a brush that is Taiwan made and looks identical to HP-CH except for the tip. The one I'm looking at has a crown tip. Should be getting a whole new setup before the weekend... getting my year end bonus . I'll post some pics when I do.

Re: Nozzle shape?
Beware!!!!
Taiwainese is probably copy of Iwata but made with cheap metals and bad tooling. probably wont last long. Spend the money and buy quality, or youll be dissapointed in end. Look alikes dont perform alike.

On the other hand I don't know where I can get an iwata here. None of the model shops in Northen Taiwan carry them and when asked if they could order for me... they looked at me with a bewildered expression. It seems that none of the modelers here in Taiwan use Iwata. |
