installing cd player in a 98 lx

okay im about to break something. im trying to install a panasonic cd player into a 98 4dr civic lx, but the harnesses i bought arent matching up with the factory harnesses. i went to best buy and told them that i needed the harness for a 98 civic and they gave me the one im trying to use, but it wont match up. is there a secret im unaware of? all i know is that i just spent two hours taking half of my dash off to install this cd player and im not going to sleep until this cd player gets installed

Do you have keyless entry on the car. The reason I ask is because keyless, and several other things are built onto the factory radio. If you want them to work you have to leave the original head unit in there somehow. I left mine in the stock place and mounted my radio in the compartmen above the cupholder.. Where ever you put it it doesnt really matter. I dont know if this helps much bet I figured Id mention it.
