85 s10 blazer 2.8 to small block engine

I was wondering if a 305,327,or a 350 would fit in my 1985 s10 blazer 4x4 2.8 liter? i just need and gotta have more power! if a small block v8 is not possible does anyone have any ideas?

Yup, It'll fit!

You'll need the motor and transmission, and odly enough you already have the right motor mounts. Although you'll need a custom set bolted to the motor.

A google search should show you a few and some of the members have done the swap. So if your handy you should have lots of info.

welcome, it fits, keeping 4x4 is the challenge (what ive heard, never done it to a 4x b4), you need, moter, computer, block mounts, wiring, i reccomend an aluminum radiator and e fan (wont get the clutch fan in there anyways) transmission (yes, you have a 700r4 on your 2.8 but it is a v6 bell housing, dont work, been there with the firebird), a couple big pry bars, and some beer... so you will use the bars (seriously get your ass in to it) depending on your location (salt belt or not) a torch for some of the bolts, and a good weekend to not be interupted, last one i didn't take us to long (12 hours or so i beleve) but it was the third one we had done, the first one is a pain in the ass learning experence, and a heads up, at the bottum of the firwall there is a pinch weld, beat the hell out of it, it gets in the way every damn time

o, btw, a 350 will fit just as easy as a 305 or 400, all small blocks have the same dimentions on the outside, and all small block parts are interchangeable, a good 350 block some nice 305 heads and flat tops on a sequental v8 and you will have more power then you know what to do with

85 is still carburated so you won't really need any electronics blazertazer. Your a lucky man there it should be a little easier than what DM has to do with his conversion.

Just find the best motor possible and switch to a carburated manifold.
It's a good idea to stay with a non electronic transmission. I would look under a 85 Full sized pickup for that

as we should know the 400 is prone to overheating because coolant does not flow between the cylinders(siamese cylinders)
I use the copper corvette radiator and has never even wanted to overheat(90deg day in stop and go traffic)
