Headlight problems

2001 Dodge Caravan, When the low beams are on right beam works left does not, when high beams are turned on they alternate and left beam works, right does not, has anyone heard of this problem and does anyone know how to fix it? Please help have five days to fix problem

Sounds like the low beam filament in the left light is bad and the high beam light in the right side is bad.

Pull the headlights out, pull the wiring harness off and test for juice getting to the wires. It would be rare that the wiring would mess up like this, so go for the bulbs first.

Remember not to touch the halogen bulbs with your fingers. The oils will cause premature failure. Use a clean rag or paper towel.

I forgot to mention, the daylight running lights don't work either, we've checked and replaced all the bulbs so thats not it, when the daylight runnig lights are on the right is out, and when the regulars lights are on the right is out, then when the high beams are on the right is out completely so only one light works at a time. both high beams and both low beams share the same circuit, so if its a wiring problem its in the right low beam wire and the left high beam wire.

If a relay died, both lows or both highs would be out. Pull the bulbs, check for voltage at each wire, and check for a good ground. If you get no voltage at one of the wires, trace it back at every possible junction until you get voltage. That component is your culprit. Could be corrosion in a wiring connection, a crushed wire, bad ground after the light, many things. Just use common sense and trace things back.
