Wait til Pete gets back to reply...I think they bolt straight into EK, but EF...cable and hydraulic clutch differences...
harder I think.

I'm back - what a day
![]() Ok - mounts etc it will all bolt up, except the tranny front mount apparently. Engine is a little bit taller, but will *just* fit. A hydro clutch setup needs to be converted and apparently, there is a good chance the driveshafts may be wrong (unconfirmed). Computer would have to be changed is my guess as the 1st gen B16As ran different setups to the 2nd gen. My guess is that 95% of the conversion is simple as the EF8/9 engine bay tends to resemble an EG or EK in engine mounting positions. In an ED (Aussie spec 4th Gen it's a lot harder of course as it's based around the D series engines, not the Bs). I wouldn't do the conversion though, although I admit I have thought about it ![]() Sigh - I've just sold myself on a complete new exhaust system - extractors - flex pipe, high-flow cat, 2 1/4 inch mandrel bent system, high flow muffler and.... SiR tips ![]() Cost is just under a grand for the lot fitted. Going to window shop a bit more, but I'm pretty much sold on it. Of note, the SiR exhaust is already 2 1/4 inches in diameter, but press bent not mandrel. Heheh - should have seen the guy's face when I said I wanted the factory heat shield on the headers and the SiR tailpipe - fortunately, the tailpipe will flow up to 2 1/2 so that's cool. |

Well if you use the Y1 gearbox that the EF9 comes with then it really is a stright bolt in swap.
Just make sure you also get a pre 95 VTiR teg ECU as well. Bolt and plug the engine in, then plug in the ECU. and away you go........................................ edit, I would also use the intake manifold of the B16a as well. It will fit better in the tighter engine bay, and they flow better.

intake manifold from a b16a, b16b, b18c R doesn't fit the B18c the only one that fits is the Skunk 2 one
and yip its going to be a bitch if you have to changed from OBD1 to OBD2

Oh yeah. I forget that he B18c has a differnt intake ports. Oh well. As for the OBD the EF9 is already mostly OBD1 anyway. It has the two O2 sensors and the right dizzy. So it really is just a matter of plugging in an OBD1 ECU from a VTiR. You dont have to, but the B18c and the B16a have differnt VTEC engagement points, and there will be slight differnces in the fuel and ignition curves.
