any good audio systems in 3's out there?
Anyone have a particularly good audio system in their 3-series?
I love to chat car audio, but the forums for it are filled with kids that have no idea what good car audio is. Anyone? From the simple mod to the full-up custom stuff... Mine is a 2001 325i with: MBQuart PSC213 mid and tweet front JL TR650-CX rear fill coaxs Pioneer Premier TS-W12PRS 12" sub amps: a/d/s P640.2 6x40W (front and rear) a/d/s P4100.2 1x800W (sub) Everything from nine inch nails to yoyo ma, at "concert levels." Great way to enjoy a car. |

custom build
hey, I'm in the process of installing a totally custom enclosure into the trunk of my 93 325i. I used CAD engineering software and lots of design schemes to make a double 12" box, at a split angle, with a center triangualr piece housing a BMW roundel. The entire box is constructed of HDF, finely sanded with an automotive paint job in white and black to match the paint job on the car (white with black trim). The subs are JL W3 driven by two rockford 400's independantly driving the subs @ 2 ohms per voice coil. The amps are driven by an Alpine CDA-7873 head unit and MB Quart speakers all around. The box is sealed into two separate sealed enclosures of 1.53 cubic feet, filled with a 50% fiberfill. I'm considering redesigning the entire trunk to match the enclosure, similar to the Hamman install done in the Dec 2001 issue of Performance BMW (check it out, amazing install). This is only my second install, so I'm hoping it will turn out with the quality of that Hamman example. I have specs and all details recorded for this enclosure, it fits the trunk of an E36 sedan down to the millimeter. So if anyone needs help or ideas about an enclosure for that model, I'll be glad to help. Good luck to all you audiophiles out there, it's a lot of fun :-)
