Wheel interchange

I have a 1995 Buick Roadmaster, and I know they are similar to the Caprices and Impala SS of the same genre. I was wondering if the wheels off of these cars are interchangeable? I want to get a spare set for my summer tires, and a friend who used to have a Hollander interchange manual no longer is in possession of it, so I can't readily look it up to see. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Wheel interchange

I'm almost positive they'd fit as long as they're not the alloy rims. The alloy rims may sometimes not fit because of the larger hub in the center front wheels depending upon where you get them. Steel rims from a Caprice of almost any year should fit right on. Last week I had to let a buddy of mine borrow my spare tire (84 Caprice) for his 93 Pontiac Trans Am, and it fit right on without any problems. So it if my rims fit on a newer sports car, then I dont see any reason why they wouldn't fit on another GM sedan.

Re: Wheel interchange

As long as you stick in the 91-96 range for donor wheels you will be fine.

If you get something older than that, then the must come from a wagon or 9C1.

Re: Wheel interchange

The reason why I first posted the question was that a friend of mine purchased a '96 Roadmaster at the same time I bought my '95 and he told me he was taking a good pair of tires off his '92 Caprice sedan wheels so he could use them on his Roadmaster as the Caprice rims wouldn't fit his Roadmaster. (He traded the Caprice in for the Roadmaster.) I thought that the wheels would fit at least from '91 to '96, and maybe he did something wrong. I'm going to look into a set from a Caprice and see if they will fit my car. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Wheel interchange

The 9C1s and wagons have a 5x5 bolt pattern. Standard civvie sedans have a 4.75x5 bolt pattern.

This is only true for PRE-91 cars. After that they are all 5x5.

97ventureowner - I'd guess that he never tried them. They should fit w/o problems. I've seen dozens of people take ImpSS wheels and use them on wagons of all makes.
