I've become what one could call a connoisseur of caffeine in my day. I've come to notice that it seems to vary in strength and intensity, dependent upon the source from which you injest it.
Supposedly, a can of Coke and a cup of coffee (i.e. regular size ~8 oz. and "regular strength") have the same caffeine content. Yes I can think of a single evening in which I injested five cans of inside of an hour, just to enjoy the buzz. It is thie mellow, relaxed buzz, as you feel your insides slightly aswim with activity. Two NoDoz tablets work in very similar fashion. At the other end of the spectrum is good old coffee, and many other brands of alertness aid caffeine pills, including Vivarin. With these, I feel jittery and very unsettled. I've noticed this a couple times this week, where instead of limiting myself to one cup of coffee in the a.m., I have two, and by the time lunch rolls around, my stomach is doing backflips and I can't wait to rush out of the office to grab some food. Just an observation. I'm curious to see if anyone else has similar, or different, experiences with caffeine experimentation, or perhaps even an explanation for what creates this discrepancy in side effects. |

Re: Sources of caffeine
I once popped six NoDoz in an hour before. That was a bad time.....

I tried Vivarin once after pulling an all-nighter study session when I was in school......BAD NEWS..well for me anyways. I already had a heart condition but this just enhanced it. I was literally a basketcase of nerves the whole day...panic attacks from hell, bit all my nails off and felt like the world was caving in on me. I stay away from stuff like that.

I don't drink much "pop"/coke/cola/soda so I don't really know much about caffeine buzzes. I've also never tried any caffeine pills, so I can't really comment on them, either.

No matter where I get caffinne from, it doesn't effect me at all. Though I never have tried any pills of it.
I drink coffee all the time, and have atleast 355ml of coke a day, or more. They don't get me on any sort of buzz, its exactly the same as say drinking a cup of water. Even all the energy drinks, with 'double caffine' do nothing for me. I drink cans of V, and then go straight to bed afterwards. It doesn't stop me sleeping at all. sarujin
