2 Questions about my 91 Eclipse
OK, i have two questions that i havent been able to find answers too.
1. Can i put the front end of a 92 ecplise on my 91 with minimal modifications, so i can use a wider range of body kits? 2. I am planning on turning my car to a drag car, it is FWD, should a)I scrap it and buy an AWD b)Have an AWD chassi installed (assuming this is possible) or c)Use as is and not worry? I apriciate any feed back i can get. thank you -BlkSprk |

Well, if I were you and in your predicament, I would buy a 92 AWD. Depending on how fast you want to run, would determine whether you need awd or stay with fwd. When you get into faster DSMs, the AWD will generally run atleast a second faster than the FWD with the same mods.

Not at all. The turbo eclipses with the manual trannies had 195 hp from 89 to 94 and then 210 from 95 to 99. The 89 to 94 autos had 190 hp. The 89 to 91 had the biggest rods, while the 92 to 94 had the 4 bolt rear end (stronger) and the 95-99 had the best pistons, while the 92 to 99 AWDs had the best brakes. I would say look around for a 92 model. In order to use a 92 front end, you have to get 92 head lights, fenders, hood, and front end, plus manufacture new mounting brackets for the head lights. You will end up spending way more than buying a 92.

92 would be your best bet if you could find one that has a build date before may. These cars have the stronger early model 6 bolt engines and the stronger later model 4 bolt rearends. 90-91 used the same engine, but with a weaker 3 bolt rearend. after may of 92 changed to a 7 bolt engine that has smaller rods and a weaker crank.
