Here's a good link for info Ross.

vtec usually cuts in 4500 rpm, and then feel it stronger at about 6200

0 - 100 in about 7ish seconds 1/4 mile 15's.

weight about 1175kg.

Max power 125kw @7300 rpm

Max torque 173NM @6200rpm

you can look up more info at www.carsales.com.au under research, but that should be enough to answer your question.

yeah what q said

what u hear at 6000rpm is the secondary intake runners opening up... get a nice cold air or short ram intake set up and it sounds pretty nice in the cabin.

weather im right or not is debatable,

but mine was heavily modified, (b/kit and sounds, I/H/E) and I have figures of like 127kw @ fly, and 1050kg for a stocko 1?? where have i been?

Mine could take down turbo legacys, or libertys as u ozzies call em, and gts-t skylines mazda gtx (1800cc turbo 4x4) and also preludes (jdm sir) So it went well, it beat almost everything i raced, however i'd only race if i could win, so that answers a few questions. But it took done brand new xr6 easy! Cool huh (ok it wasnt easy, but still cool)

continuing from what ross said, i removed the resonator box from the teg and the vtec roar is more noticeable at 6000rpm. i just looked up some info about DIY CAI, looks easy. mite make another one (for a teg this time). i still dont feel the g force kick in when compared to ross' car though

I agree Elmo, that a b16a screams more, so it feels more racey/faster, but the b18c feels grunty, as like a h22a against a b18c, same deal really. I have driven another del sol crx, and that really screamed under vtec, also vtec engauged at like 5800rpm, wen mi old teg did it at 4200ish, depending on how heavy i was on the gas, i could get it in as late as 5100, but i mean i barely had any weight on the gas to do that.

on the contrary its different in my sisters vtir civic. Her car is stock, and when vtec cuts in, it makes a bit of noise but not much, compared to my teg with the exhaust which you can hear

I think we're talking stock systems here - anyone can hear VTEC with a big muffler

BTW - I agree - I drove a friend's CRX Del Sol and his wife's VTiR coupe and the sound and feel isn't as raw as my SiR, even though they are the same engine.

I pull torque steer if I'm not careful - the VTiR Civics are more refined but as powerful - the 'tegs are a hell of a lot more grunty though - not fair

Get into an ITR and the feeling is different again though

Also its a size ratio thing too...in the smaller civics, it feels like you're going faster, whereas in the teg, it feels like a slug.

LOL not to mention all the dirt clogging the fuel pump car almost karked it on the way to work, and then she poured like only 36 litres at the pump

no seriously in the integra driving like 60 feels like you are rolling down the road, atleast in the civic, its a bit more bearable
