Real Z Cars

Where are all the real Z owners on this site. All I ever see are people raving about the new Z concept or their heavy Z32. Not that I dont like the Z32 but when they added the x to the z too many unnecessary options came along with it allong with added weight. I mean really, why would you want all that extra junk on a "sports car". If its options youre looking for go buy a benz.

Check out my car: http://www.mysportscar.net/Galleries...&iGalleryUnq=7

And on that same website: http://www.mysportscar.net/Articles/..._long_road.asp

Then again here: http://www.utahz.com

All from my friend and I. My Z is "decked out", but I think it's not in a cheezy-neon-fuzzy dice-flourence way. It's been done with class and style.

thats a nice lookin z garraeth. i liked the stereo setup also. its nice to see someone who appreciates good quality equipment. ive been driving an 85 2+2 daily and have fallen in love with it but these illinois winters have rusted out the underside so rather than pouring my money into this rust bucket i purchased a 75 280 a few weeks ago and had it shipped in from vegas. the paint is pretty oxidized and it has an intake valve problem but it runs and there isnt a speck of rust on it as well as having near perfect interior. i hope to have it running soon so i can drive it some before i store it for the winter. i plan to add a front airdam and spoiler and repaint it first and then add a turbo from a 280zx. once ive accomplished that im going to work on suspension and brake upgrades. when i get some work done ill post some pics for everyone to see. i purchased it from ebay and here is the link to the auction listing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...ndexURL=0&rd=1 its the only pic i have now but i hope to get more soon. ill keep everyone posted as to how my project is coming along. till then. c-ya l8r.

I dont even own a Z but I know where your comin from phishphan_23 and thats why I love the early Z's so much. A true sports car should be a small, torque, tight suspension little roadster with NONE of the "fluff" thats common even in todays cheap econamy cars. Basically a descent engine, two seats, a low stance with excellent handeling, and just enough metal to enclose that engine and driver. Wait, I just desribed the 240!! Gotta love em.

And garraeth...like that picture of your car with the photoshoped model. You realize shes only 3 1/2 ft tall next to your car? Or was that a sublte attempt to create the perfect woman? LMOL!

Heh, no I just didn't have another picture of the car zoomed out...if I made her full height, I'd have to cut the top half of her off. So I settled for making her a midget ;p

And I just bought (last friday) a "new" engine. It's a Corvette engine with 40k miles on it. The current engine has only 170 HP. The new one has 300 It'll take a while to put it in, but I'm pretty excited.

Garraeth, man sweet car, so ya stickin' a 5.7 litre V8 into the sucker........
oh well good work, it will all go well.

Have you tried looking for a L28ET then swapping the Turbo for a Vortech supercharger, then modifing the engine to get a healthy 545hp @ the rear wheels..................... but that's $9,000(USD) spent on a better engine swap.

Yeah, I bought the engine and now don't have enough cash to pay to put it in! heh. Plus they came back and said the word on the street is that the transmission will burn out pretty fast and so needs to also be upgraded...soooo, it'll be a while before I have the $$ to pay for all that

...still plugging away at it tho.

garraeth, that car is freaking sweet.

I'm a huge Z enthusiast, but unfortunately, I'm a poor college student, adn the closest I have to a Z right now is my Dad's Infiniti J30.

I'm looking at a 75 280z though, but I'm having trouble finding comments about it. (ie. 1/4 times, 0-60 times, reliability, possible upgrades, etc.)

Anyone know of anything? (I'm looking for stock information)

280Z

my dad and i each had '75 280z's back in the late 80's to early 90's. they were awesome cars. true sportscars, 2 seats, stick, lots of power, sleek looks. i love the ip, one one of the best i've seen. my dad was 6'2" and he had plenty of leg, head, and shoulder room. the only detriment is they are a unibody and rust out like crazy. otherwise they would last 4ever. they eventually rusted out so bad we had to park them. my dad beat his senseless, then gave it to my sister to drive for a few years. not one problem. they have plenty of power. i believe they did 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. they were faster than mid 70's corvettes-so i've heard. the best thing is to buy one from a dry area like vegas. the only thing is faded paint and cracked dashes but no rust. one day i'll have another fairlady.............

here are the best web sites for z cars

www.zcar.com

www.hybridz.com

The fact of the matter is $$$$$. If you want to spend 10k on a L28E engine u can.

Now if yuo spend 10K on a small block chevy engine youll have the engine over 600hp for 4K and have tons of money for extra stuff.

If you download movies on kazaa and such.

Search for Darius Z.

Hes got a 240z with a 504 chevy crate engine thats turbo charged............. Perhaps the most insane ride ive seen online!

I got 3 z cars for sale too.

email me at [email protected]

$1000 for all 3.

My Z

Is actually my girlfriend's Z, but I work on it and drive it everywhere. I'm sorry, but ours is a 79 and it ran great, but other than the tight suspension, I don't consider it a sports car. It's too slow to be a sports car. You can drop thousands into it, but why not get something cooler? Any car that comes with a V8 is better to start with. Anything that isn't equipped w/ emission control is a good place to start. My 65 Buick already has a big block in it, and it puts out 325hp, and 445 lbs.ft. If anyone knows what to do if a Z is flooding like a *!@%^$#*&%, I'd surely like to know what to do.

Re: Real Z Cars

couldn't seem to lacate those mysportscar links, are they down? anyway, I've had a '78 280z for a couple of years now and I'll never sell it. If it needs money, I'll gladly feed it when necessary.
