Couple of Questions

hey everybody

I've been a long time reader and decide to join this awesome community. I like drawing cars and building car models. I have many modifiers and tried 2 models. I tried revell civic and f&f supra with no luck. I decide I'd try some models again and if I need help I would ask here. Well Im going to try buying a model next week and since I get out of school (i'm 14) I would have a lot of time to build it. I was wondering where i could find a 1992-1995 civic sedan and how to paint cars. Also where can i get an airbrush?Walmart? Also does Hobby Lobby have model cars. Thanks

Re: Couple of Questions

Welcome

Hobby Lobby does have model cars.
Check out the FAQ and How To section on how to paint, or use the search feature, the question was already asked ONCE today.
Walmart sells cheap airbrushes, Hobby Lobby sells good quality ones, or try online. Plenty of threads on the topic here too.
You don't necessarily need an airbrush for your first models though, spray cans can work fine.

Welcome to AF!

Michaels and AC Moore also sell 'real' airbrushes, Badgers. They are at hideously marked-up prices, but you can always find a 40% off coupon for them, or Joanne's Fabris, or the Rag Shop (They all take each other's coupons) and get them for a little less than buying online.

Re: Couple of Questions

The '92-'95 sedan kit exists in race car form but is becoming increasingly rare. You will not find it at Wal-Mart of Hobby Lobby (though you'll likely find the coupe there). The only place you can consistantly find these are on eBay, where they command serious prices. You might get lucky, though. Regardless, I'd suggest not building one of these so early in the game, practice a bit on some cheaper kits. It's not that I don't have faith in your skills, I'm just saying destroying a $40 kit hurts a lot more than destroying a $10 one.

I agree, but I would suggest that if you are lucky and find a cheap one then get it! Some rarer models are a PITA to find. Just hold on to the model until you have the confidence to build it without too many screwups. And if you finally decide not to build it you can sell it for profit !

HEY!!! WE'RE HUMAN!!! WE ARE ALLOWED TO SCREW UP!!
Besides, fixing it up is all more the fun
