Problems w/ Stillen V2 Supercharger
Hi:
I would recommend that you avoid getting a SuperCharger for your Maxima. It is notorious for having lots of problems. I was told by the owner of APG Performance in Chicago (where I live) that they installed it on 3 Maxima's and they all have sold it since then. They also will NOT do any business with Stillen because of their support on their products. I'd save up for the 2002 Maxima 255 HP or get a custom turbo done. With 7-8 PSI, you should get an additional 80+ ponies without rebuilding the engine. -dashingMax

The V1's had a lot more Problems than the V2's. There are plenty of Happy S/C owners that have no problems, you just have to make sure you do everything right. The biggest problem is the plastic idler pulley, but you can get a custom one made. The only way to get a cheaper S/C is to find one used. Look on www.maxima.org under the for sale section often, and maybe you will get lucky.

Plastic Idler Pulley
You are correct! The plastic idler pulley has been the major problem.

I know some custom performance shops make custom pulleys. Its probably $$$ but worth it to save the hassle, especially when your Max stops running!
