Talking Watch out turbo guys, here we come!!!

Please reference the following post from Hostboard:

http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/ult...&f=110&t=10264

In case you don't feel like reading the post, here's the short version:
One of the first known custom-intercooled JRSC-enhanced B series-powered Hondas pulled a 12.1 @ 112 mph timeslip on Friday (5/31/02). That's with just 11 pounds of boost! And this is of course a street car. And now that there are a couple cars out there running with custom intercoolers, they will start to become as easy to adapt into supercharging systems as air-to-air intercoolers in turbo systems.

Keeping the JRSC's cool enough to make power while spinning them fast has been what has kept us behind the turbo guys, but this is a big step in the right direction (though notably there is a lot of catching up to be done), and with the soon-to-be-utilized, much more efficient fourth and fifth generation Eaton blowers on the horizon,* I think the Roots blower may finally soon have its day in the Honda camp :sun:

P.S. Oh, by the way, the "we" I refer to in the thread title is us "JRSC guys"

* The fifth generation Eaton blower is supposed to be more efficient than most turbochargers.

wow....knockin on 11 second timeslips....that's pretty cool.....was this person on slicks?.....i know you said it's streetable, but a 12.1 on street tires is even crazier..... so wat exactly is an AFTERcooler that vortech has on their blowers?....wat does that do?.....

Vortech's "aftercooler" is a catchy name, but it's still an intercooler. The boosted air travels through the aftercooler en route to the engine's intake manifold. I think they call it an "aftercooler" because it is situated after the supercharger.

As for the slicks or street tires issue.. I can't find that detail in the message. I would think slicks, but honestly, street tires could possibly stick well enough to get you that time if you can just get your launch right.

Here is a picture of the intercooler setup that another guy on Hostboard is running:
