Hm....PSI may be too high, try using a lower PSI. If it's a double action, don't pull all the way back, try putting it on more fine. Try thinning it more too, and remember thin light coats are the key. Also, when you're spraying, don't spray directly onto the model, start outside and sweep your way across.

it's really weird
if i use a low PSI the paint splatters or doesnt come out at all and if i turn it up, it comes out chunky but the paint is really thin, thinner than what i usually use |

I got the same problem 2 day ago with Tamiya Paint.. I used Testor Acrylic and it worked fine.... don't know why, I can't get tamiya paint to work with my airbrush..
Maybe tamiya paint dry too fast in my paintbrush..

How thin are you thinning your paint? It should be the consistency of milk. Also, your paint may not be mixed well enough - you need to stir it with a toothpick and really get the gunk at the bottom of the jar.

What i ussually use to stir up my paint are the sticks/bars from the now empty and useless model trees. i just cut out sticks long enough and use them, works better than toothpics for me.
Also make sure your not either too close or too far away from the model. nika |

its a little thinner than milk consistency, or the usual paint consistency i use
i tried thinning it even more, and doing a rim the paint went on smoothly, but didn't dry glossy WTF is going on |

one problem solved....
hey Kosmonaut....
The only problem i can help you with is your lose of glossiness when you thin your Tamiya paints. the reason why is doesnt have a glossy shine after you mix the thinner is because you added too much thinner.....A local hobby shop told me to only add 1 part thinner to 3 parts thinner.....any more could be the result of lose of glossiness....sorry i dont know whats causing your clumpy paint....i dont have an airbrush....i use compressed air cans....cant really afford one yet hope this helps
