Just installed new headers, Need Help!

I just installed new reactive 4-2-1 headers on my 2000 civic lx. I installed both of the o2 sensors into the new headers, but now my check engine light is on and my engine seems to be running differently. like the timing is off or something. what should I do? I think the engine should be running just a smooth as it did before. I want to get rid of the light also.

The engine is probably not running smooth because of the CEL. With a little research you can find out what code you are throwing and then you'll know what the problem is. However, it most likely has to do with the O2 sensors. Are you sure you didn't damage one while removing them from the stock manifold? See if any of the wires look bent or damaged in any way, and also recheck that the sensors are all the way threaded into the bungs.

I had pretty much the same problem when I installed my header. The damn "check engine" light was always starring at me. Then, I reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and no more Light. Just have your radio code handy you'll need to get your radio function back. Hope this helps.

I reset the ECU but the light just came back on.......Also one of the holes for the o2 sensors is too far away and will not reach with the existing wires so I extended the wires so it would reach.

yeah his cat was on his stock exhaust manifold, the curse of the d16y7. did you replace your cat at all? if not thats your problem. if you did replace the cat is the secondary o2 sensor in very close proximity to the cat? if not then thats your problem.

That could also be your problem. O2 sensors are rather finicky...it's probably because of the cat thing, but it could also be that you lengthened the wires.

I went to auto zone to have my code read, and it was the cats. I'm going to get a new chip to fix the problem.
