help please

I own a 90 geo prizm and the ignition won't turn when i put the key in and try to turn it, its really annoying me and becoming a hassle I recently bought the car and it didn't do this while I was checking it out. I know it's a security feature but its annoying any advice?? Can i remove the whole thing just be rid of jiggling the wheel back and forth violently and turning the key at the same time. Or is there a trick to these cars?? any help or advice would be helpful
Thanks
Jonathan

Re: help please

Try getting in the habit of letting go of the steering wheel before turning off the key. When you turn off the car, the power steering assist stops and the wheel will "kick back" under the strain of the tires if they're turned.

If you still have trouble, all it usually takes is a gentle tug on the wheel in one direction to free up the lock.

Re: help please

Those models prizms were prone to iggnition switch problems, looks like its time for a new one.
