OK, Lotus, here are my guesses...
Location, location, location. First of all its a packaging help. You can fit more brakes, wheel, tire, and suspension engineering in a space that doesn't have to be shared by a spring and shock. Adjustabilty. Since the suspension transfers the load via a lever to the springs and shocks you can easily change spring rate by altering the lever. Unsprung weight. Moving those suspension components inboard, their weights are no longer carried by the lower control arm.

the Enzo has the pushrod suspension, the Carrera GT has it, almost every single LMP Race Car has it too.

lol o ok, i dunno if i can explain this right but, a pushrod suspension is when the shock absorbers are actuated by pushrods.The pushrod connects the knuckle/ hub carrier to the shock absorber and it transmits the up and down movements of the knuckle to the shock absorber. hope that helps.

Pushrod suspension is correct and accurate term to describe a suspension system useing remote mounted shocks and springs actuated by pushrods or other linkages.
if you have any doubts just enter pushrod suspension into google and look at the list of results.

interesting... doesnt look very durable though. looks like the pivots between the struts and control arms would be a point of stress and wear
